Job Purpose:
A Mold Remediate Worker will be responsible for safely removing and securing mold from various locations within a home, commercial building or business.
Key Responsibilities:
The general responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

To perform mold remediation per established processes and written protocols

To carefully inspect the property to identify mold growth type and source

To identify and analyze the air quality hazards and suggest or make improvements to the mold remediation system of the building
-
To isolate contaminated areas before cleaning or removal to prevent the spread os spores etc.

Safely remove and secure the mold through a safe process that prevents spores’ release into the air
-
To properly sanitize the affected area, including cleaning of all items affected, such as furniture, curtains, floors, walls, etc. This will also include deodorization and elimination of odors with the use of fogging equipment

To make recommendations on installing or improving extractor fans

To work with buildings engineers to improve the structure of buildings to allay the worst problems of damp in buildings

To follow all local, state and federal safety laws, policies and guidelines

Working Conditions:
Working conditions, usually, include mostly working indoors and outdoors, in varying temperatures. The nature of the job is challenging, physically demanding and requires the use personal protective equipment and self-care to protect against biohazardous contaminant exposure; hours of work may vary depending on scope of work, location or specific industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Knowledge of appropriate personal protective equipment, containment of affected areas, maintaining indoor air quality, and protecting unaffected property parts

Should be able to perform physically demanding work, such as moving furniture or appliances during a household remediation job

Should be able to utilize, maintain and service various types of equipment required for mold remediation, such as fans and power tools

Ability to provide excellent customer service and effective communication while performing mold remediation at work sites

Knowledgeable in mold identification and inspection; willing to work continually on professional development

Ability to determine moisture readings using moisture meters; regularly calibrate instruments
Physical Abilities:

Ability to stand for long periods of time
-
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently
-
Ability to be comfortable with use of ladders and scaffolding
-
Ability to work in various positions, for example: crouching, kneeling, lying down, and access/work in low (40″) spaces
Qualification/ Experience:
The candidate should be at least 18 years of age, should at least have a high school degree or a Bachelor’s in public health related subject, occupational health and safety, or biology or botany, along with extensive experience working in the mold remediation. Additionally, candidate must pass a background check.
